It doesn't take much to make another person's day - but it isn't something we often think about doing. One man has shared how accidentally giving his pizza delivery driver a 140 per cent tip left him with a warm fuzzy glow in his heart.
He explained how he ordered a pizza after having a bit too much to drink - not realising he paid for it online when placing the order. So when his pizza arrived, he dug into his pocket and gave the driver $30 (£24) to cover the food alongside a 20 per cent tip on top of that.
Taking to Reddit, he said: "[The driver] said 'Thank you!' very enthusiastically which made me realise in about two seconds that I just gave him double the money for the order, which he would obviously receive as a tip."
The man says he was seconds away from explaining his mistake and asking for the money back when he clocked the driver's 'secret' reaction to the hefty tip.
"He had a smile from ear to ear like he found the cure for Covid or struck gold or something," he added.
"He even did this little mini jump before he hopped into his car.
"I'm not exactly Bill Gates, I still have debts to pay, but I'm glad I messed up to help someone who needed the money more than I did.
"I felt pretty dumb after, but the joy I saw in that man made my week."
While most users praised him for his wholesome mistake, others shared their own stories about being tipped over the odds.
One user said: "As an ex-delivery driver, he'll probably remember this for years.
"I still remember getting £30 (over 3x my hourly rate at the time) from a guy at Christmas delivering groceries - and that was four years ago.
"Stuff like that can really make your week, even month in a job where you seldom get much thanks."
Another user added: "Since Covid my wife and I have been regularly tipping 50 per cent or more. The service industry was hit hard and their service has helped keep us safe."
A third user said: "I've found that putting out good karma usually finds its way back."
