Video game modifications platform CurseForge has announced a key partnership with Hypixel Studios, bringing Hytale mods on day one of launch. This move delivers on years of anticipation for custom content in the long-awaited game, as players can now expect a mod-ready experience right from the start.
The news came via CurseForge’s official X post on Jan. 5, 2026. It confirms full mod support through their platform, a hub known for powering thousands of Minecraft add-ons.
Hypixel Studios, creators of the blockbuster server on Minecraft, aims to build a similar creator ecosystem for Hytale. CurseForge played a role earlier in supporting Hytale‘s revival after its acquisition in 2025.
Orbis world generation details and tools for creators
Hypixel’s blog post details the new “Orbis” world generation system. Orbis creates varied biomes and terrain for deeper exploration. Modders gain access to its APIs, allowing custom worlds, creatures, and features. This pairs directly with CurseForge tools for easy uploads and sharing.
Orbis V2 introduces a visual node editor that lets creators build worlds without coding. Users connect nodes to define biomes, terrain, and features, with changes reloading live in-game for fast iteration. The system uses smarter asset placement based on context. Think ash trees growing near cave entrances to guide exploration. Hypixel CEO Simon Collins-Laflamme described V2 as a tool to “redefine the block game genre,” handing control to artists and designers over programmers.

Fans reacted fast online. Reddit posts praised the day-one support, while modder Macaw noted plans to adapt existing work for Hytale.
Hytale faced delays and uncertainty before this. Now, official modding at launch signals a strong commitment to player input. Servers could soon host unique maps and gameplay twists, setting the game apart in the block-building genre.
CurseForge’s involvement ensures mods reach millions quickly, while game devs see this as a model for open content in modern titles. In the meantime, do check the system requirements for macOS if you’re planning to play it on Apple devices.
