Hytale currently hints at endgame gear that you need to craft via mithril, but there's no way to actually get the ore in-game – aside from cheating and popping into creative mode. The devs at Hypixel apparently have some big plans for endgame mining, including mithril, and it'll be a bit more involved than the current process for mining ore.
"We got some fun ideas about Mithril," Hypixel boss Simon Collins-Laflamme says on Twitter. He adds, "Let’s say it wont be as simple to mine as the others!" Our friends at PC Gamer spotted this tweet, and in response to their article, Collins-Laflamme offered a follow-up message with some interesting extra details.
"We are looking at options to make mining a bit more interesting when it comes to the late game," Collins-Laflamme adds in that follow-up tweet, thanking YouTuber Necrit94 for some valuable "suggestions in DMs." The exact nature of those suggestions has, of course, not yet been revealed, but it seems they'll result in a more substantial mining experience for the endgame.

I'd say it might be a while before endgame mining gets patched into the game, but content updates have already been coming in fast – the dinosaur update came just days after launch, after all. Hypixel's got big plans in store for their long-awaited sandbox game, and it looks like community feedback is already starting to shape its future direction.
