HYDERABAD: Gopalapuram police on Saturday arrested an outsourcing employee of SBI for siphoning off 45 lakh from the account of a 75-year-old customer.
The accused KS Kumar Raju (26), working at SBI’s St John’s Road branch in Secunderabad, gained the trust of C Anasuya of Safilguda by helping her with banking transactions and hatched a plan to dupe her. He took her phone promising to install YONO SBI app and replaced her phone number with his number, Gopalapuram ACP N Sudhir said.
Subsequently, he availed overdrafts on her FDs for 45 lakh. Police recovered 9.5 lakh cash and freezed his accounts.
