Hybrids, small SUVs revealed as unexpected gas guzzlers

All hybrid vehicles and most small SUVs consumed more petrol than advertised in the latest round of Australian road tests, with two models exceeding promised fuel consumption by 20 per cent or more.

The Australian Automobile Association announced the results on Thursday, revealing 70 per cent of the vehicles tested in its latest round exceeded their lab results.
