The wife of Huw Edwards has reportedly filed for divorce following the disgraced presenter’s conviction for hoarding child abuse images.
Vicky Flind, 63, had stood by the BBC newsreader during the scandal. But in July it was reported that the pair, who have been married for 30 years, had split and she had kicked him out of the six-bedroom family home.
A source told The Sun: “Vicky had enough of Edwards a long time ago but this is the final nail in the coffin of their relationship.
“He’s put her and their family through hell, so this was inevitable. Unsurprisingly, they separated a long time ago and Edwards has been living elsewhere, but it is now official.
“Vicky is not talking to him and they now only communicate via lawyers.”
It comes after Edwards put his luxury home in Dulwich, southeast London, up for sale for £4.75million.
The six-bedroom property boasts a pool table, library and baby-grand piano.
It is understood the mortgage has been paid off, meaning a sale will give him a bumper pay-day of up to £2million now he is without his £475,000 BBC salary.
Edwards, 63, had previously admitted to three charges of “making” indecent photographs and was handed a six-month suspended jail term last month.
The court heard he received the illegal photographs from another man via WhatsApp between 2020 and 2021 among a cache of legal pornography.
Two of the videos sent to Edwards and opened by the News at Ten host involved serious sexual offending against children aged between seven and nine. Other material was believed to involve children aged from 12 to 15.
When the scandal first broke, Edwards disappeared from screens and his wife issued a statement saying he was “suffering from serious mental health issues” and was receiving hospital care.
In four decades at the BBC, he was among its most recognisable faces, leading coverage of the Queen’s funeral in 2022 and most recently the Coronation of the King. Before he stepped down, the father-of-five was the BBC’s highest-paid newsreader, with a pay bracket between £475,000 and £479,999.
