Hustle: Netflix drops new trailer for Adam Sandler and LeBron James film

The full trailer for Adam Sandler’s latest flick Hustle has finally been released. The film, which will premiere exclusively on Netflix on June 8, has an all-star cast including Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, Ben Foster, Kenny Smith, Juancho Hernangómez and María Botto.

Follwing on from the teaser trailer back in February, this three-minute clip previews lots of basketball and lots of drama. There is a mountain of serious chat, too: “What the hell am I still chasing this for?” asks Sandler. “So you’re just going to give up on your dream?” says his wife.

“Being the guy who finds the guy matters in this business,” Sandler says in another scene.

The story follows an out-of-luck basketball scout, played by Sandler, who comes across a talented player while he’s abroad. You can already see where the story is going: Sandler’s character wants to bring the player to the US, to make it in the NBA. And of course, the odds are against them.

Hustle will feature Queen Latifah as Sandler’s wife, Juancho Hernangómez as the talented basketball player Bo Cruz and Ben Foster as Sandler’s boss. The film will also include real-life Philadelphia 76ers basketball players Matisse Thybulle, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris.

It has been directed by Jeremiah Zagar, whose 2018 film We the Animals won the Sundance NEXT Innovator Award, and has been written by Taylor Materne (The Longest Week, Marseilles) and Oscar-nominated Will Fetters (A Star is Born, Remember Me).

NBA legend LeBron James is producing the film as part of his SpringHill Entertainment company in collaboration with Sandler’s Happy Madison operation and Roth/Kirschenbaum Films.

The film follows two hugely successful collaborations between Sandler and Netflix. The Safdie Brother’s 2019 Uncut Gems, which starred Sandler and was distributed by Netflix, was studio A24’s highest-grossing opening day, bringing in $5.9 million (£4. 8 million).

Then, the 2020 American mystery comedy Hubie Halloween, which was written by Sandler and distributed by Netflix, became the most-streamed title for the first fortnight of its release.
