The latest update from the National Hurricane Center indicates that Hurricane Milton has begun the process of making landfall along the Florida gulf coast. The eyewall of the hurricane, which contains the most intense winds, is currently moving onshore with winds reaching 120 mph and higher gusts.
An Extreme Wind Warning has been issued for the areas near Tampa and St. Petersburg as the northern eyewall of Hurricane Milton approaches. Residents are advised to shelter in place as these extremely dangerous hurricane-force winds spread across the region.
