FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring two areas — one weather system in the east Atlantic and one in the Caribbean.
As of 8 p.m. Eastern time Friday, meteorologists gave the system in the east Atlantic a 30% chance of forming into a tropical depression or storm in the next five days and a 10% in the next two. According to the National Hurricane Center, conditions could become more favorable for development this weekend or early next week as it moves through the central and western Caribbean.
It was producing disorganized thunderstorms as it moved at 15 mph off the the African coast Friday morning.
