Hurling round-up as Limerick beat Cork to advance to Munster final and Wexford stay up with win over Kilkenny

Limerick have set up another Munster final with Clare after a nervy one-point win over Cork.

Their 3-25 to 1-30 victory, coupled with Waterford’s surprise win over Tipperary, allowed the All-Ireland champions to leapfrog Tipp in the table, with Cork knocked out after taking just three points from their four games.

The Munster final will take place on June 11, most likely at FBD Semple Stadium, as Clare look to overturn last year’s extra time defeat to John Kiely’s side at the same stage.

Tipperary were in pole position to join the Banner in the provincial decider but their 1-24 to 0-21 defeat in Thurles to an already eliminated Waterford sees them drop to third place and they will instead play Offaly in the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final on the weekend of June 17/18.

Earlier in the day, Wexford scored a dramatic 4-23 to 5-18 win over Kilkenny to maintain their place in the top tier at the expense of Westmeath, who return to the Joe McDonagh Cup after suffering a comprehensive 4-24 to 1-19 loss to Antrim in Mullingar.

Elsewhere, Galway battled back to secure a draw with Dublin, ensuring their passage into Leinster final against Kilkenny on June 11.
