Eleven of the 202 newly-graduated police officers who will soon start work on the beat across NSW are coming to stations in the Hunter region.
Of the latest cohort of new recruits, 18 have been allocated to the NSW Police Northern Region, which stretches from the Hawkesbury River to the Queensland border - and includes the Hunter.
Six will work in Newcastle City Police District, three in Hunter Valley Police District and two in Port Stephens-Hunter Police District. No graduates are being sent to Lake Macquarie Police District this time.
Most of the new police - 151 - will be based in metropolitan stations while the remaining 51 will begin their law enforcement careers in regional parts of the state.
"Our police respond to all forms of crime, support victims of all ages and backgrounds, and engage with all types of communities," NSW Police commissioner Karen Webb said.
"A career in policing can be extremely varied and each day can be unpredictable, but it's also so rewarding to know that you've come to work to help others."
