Federal Judge Mary Ellen Norica dismissed attempts by Hunter Biden's legal team to delay the trial, stating that the case is not complex. Despite Hunter's absence, his attorney, Abby Lowell, initially requested a trial start in September, later proposing July. However, Judge Norica rejected these requests, emphasizing that the necessary preparations had not been made.
Hunter Biden faces three charges related to false statements on a federal firearm form in 2018, where he denied drug addiction while owning a gun for a brief period. The gun, reportedly discarded by Beau Biden's widow, Hallie Biden, behind a local supermarket, led to the charges brought by Special Counsel David Weiss. Hunter pleaded not guilty to all three charges.
Abby Lowell also mentioned another tax case involving Hunter in California, seeking a delay due to the overlapping trial schedules. The California trial, set to commence on June 20th, may be postponed pending an appeals court decision.
