Hunter Biden slept 'on a cot' in father's hotel room during US president's Irish tour, lawyers say

Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, has appeared in court for a paternity-related case, with his lawyers allegedly arguing that the 53-year-old currently does not have the financial capacity to pay his child support - and where he stayed during his father’s trip to Ireland is proof.

Hunter Biden appeared on Monday in a court in Arkansas, where the judge ordered he must answer some finance-related questions.

Previously in September, Hunter asked the court to reduce child support payments for a child he had with a woman called Lunden Roberts.

Biden is paying a whopping $20,000 per month in child support to Roberts, with his lawyers arguing that the president’s son had paid out a staggering three-quarters of a million dollars to date, Buzz reports.

However, his legal team have presented that he is unable to continue this current level of payment, adding that he no longer has a salary.

The team have also suggested that during his father’s recent trip to Ireland, his son allegedly "stayed on a cot in his dad's room in Dublin" and that this was his only hotel room stay in the last five years.

Holly Meyer, the independent county circuit court judge in the case, made criticisms of Biden and his legal team for the records they produced to the court, with CNN quoting her as saying that the ability to redact is being somewhat abused.

They have now been ordered to refile public versions of some records they submitted.

Hunter is also facing scrutiny from Republicans in Congress and will now have to face further financial scrutiny about his investments and art sales. He is also under federal investigation for potential tax crimes.
