The hunt is on for the £1billion lottery winner - as no one has come forward to claim the life-changing prize.
A month ago a lucky winner from Illinois, US, purchased the winning ticket from a petrol station in Des Plaines for the July 29 draw.
However, the prize winner has still not come forward to claim the £1billion Mega Millions jackpot, lottery officials confirmed yesterday.
It is the largest ever prize to be won in Illinois and the third biggest lottery prize won in the US.
Illinois Lottery Director Harold Mays said: “For a prize of this magnitude, it’s not unusual for the winner to take a while to claim.
“I’m sure they’re going through a range of emotions.”
Although any Illinois Mega Millions players can remain anonymous - if they win jackpots over £200,000.
But the lottery director believes the winner still might not have a clue they have won the whopping amount.
Fortunately, any Mega Millions winner has one full year from the date of the draw, July 29, to claim the money.
But they have only 60 days from the date of the draw if they want to be paid the full amount over the course of 29 years.
However, the winner can decide to have £660m paid up front in cash instead.
The petrol station owner who sold the winning ticket, Des Plaines, is entitled to a bonus of over £425,000, for selling the winning ticket.
But employees at the petrol station are remaining quiet over who they think could be the winner after selling the lucky ticket to the customer.
