The pagers used in the recent attacks on members of Hezbollah were supplied by Hungary-based distributor BAC Consulting KFT, as confirmed by Taiwanese manufacturer Gold Apollo. Images circulating on social media show damaged Gold Apollo pagers, including the AR-924 model, which were reportedly used in the attacks.
Gold Apollo revealed that they had a contractual agreement with BAC to use their brand for product sales. The Taiwanese company emphasized that while BAC had the authorization to use their brand trademark, the design and manufacturing of the products, including the AR-924 model, were solely handled by BAC.
According to Gold Apollo's founder, Hsu Ching-kuang, the partnership with BAC initially involved the distribution of other pager and communication products. However, BAC later expressed interest in producing their own pagers under the Gold Apollo brand, leading to the current arrangement.
Hsu mentioned a past incident where a wire transfer from BAC took an unusually long time to clear, indicating a potential red flag in their dealings. BAC, based in Budapest, Hungary, describes itself on its website as a consultancy firm specializing in international relations, environmental issues, and development and innovation.
The news outlet has sought a response from BAC regarding the recent revelations. The nature of the partnership between Gold Apollo and BAC, as well as the circumstances surrounding the distribution of the pagers, continue to be subjects of investigation and public interest.
