A crowd of around 200 held a rally yesterday afternoon to express support for refugees escaping the brutal Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The rally in Fermoy, Co Cork, was organised by locals in response to a demonstration by a small number of people last week outside a convent that has been turned into emergency accommodation for around 20 families and some single women of different nationalities.
Local organisers say the vast majority of the town’s people were “appalled” by the protest outside St Joseph’s Convent, Cork Beo reports.
