Liverpool's Pier Head played host to a free event in celebration of Ramadan.
Ramadan is an annual celebration in the Muslim community. It falls in the ninth month of the Islamic calendar with practising Muslims observing a month of fasting, prayer and community.
The vast open-air event returned to Liverpool's iconic Pier Head for the first time since its conception in 2019. Titled Taste Ramadan, the free event has been headlined by comedian Tez Ilyas, with support and entertainment added by local performers.

The event has been curated by Liverpool Region Mosque Network, Liverpool Football Club Foundation and Liverpool City Council, with 2019's event attracting crowds of more than 4,000 people. The event is designed to celebrate the Muslim community and faith, with the intention of uniting visitors against hate.
Speaking about this year’s theme and the programme for the event, Tawhid Islam said: "Taste Ramadan 2022 is around hope and building a sustainable future. We are delighted to be working with Amnesty International as a partner for the first time, as well as football clubs and charities who offer hope to so many people both across the city and being displaced around the world under tragic circumstances.
"The feedback from young people is that the protection of our environment is a huge issue where we need to do more and inspire others and celebrating the creative industries such as art and poetry. Finally, hope is about looking on the bright side and performance is a great way to do that and break down barriers; so as a city famous for our sense of humour, we’re excited Tez Ilyas is saving his biggest appearance in Liverpool for Taste Ramadan."
