Hundreds of residents gather in East Wall to protest housing of asylum seekers in former ESB site

Hundreds of people gathered to protest at the housing of asylum seekers at a former ESB site in East Wall in Dublin on Saturday.

Up to 300 local residents stopped traffic, claiming the building was being used to accommodate male-only asylum seekers.

The protesters claimed they had been not consulted about the move and alleged the asylum seekers were brought in “under cover of darkness”.
