The final go-ahead could soon be given for nearly 300 homes to be built on top of the grounds of a demolished school. The site was historically occupied by Padstow School and forms partially cleared areas of buildings and former playing fields. If a plan is approved on April 20 by Nottingham City Council's planning committee, it would become 291 new homes.
The development would provide a mix of one, two, three and four bed properties and 75 of the new houses would be affordable units which would be transferred to Nottingham City Homes on completion. The centre of the site would be retained and improved as a green park area with a play area also provided for new residents.
The site is owned by Nottingham City Council and the sale of the land pending, according to planning documents. Developers Countryside will pay £1,911,255 to fund education services in the area and a request for a contribution of £329,853 has also been received from the Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust in relation to the provision of health care.

People living around the 25-acre site, between Southglade Road, Eastglade Road and Gainsford Crescent, previously told Nottinghamshire Live they feared the plan would deprive locals of green space. And that they were 'astonished' by the scale of the development.
In a planning statement, Countryside Properties said: "The proposed building heights are two storey with some bungalows, which has been informed by the Padstow Design Code and an appraisal of the surrounding context.
"The development is arranged around a central green space, with a network of pathways connecting the green space to the adjacent road and pathways, with the spine road running from north to south of the site.
"The general design and layout of the scheme is intended to reflect the character of the locality by enhancing the existing built form by using a consistent scale and proportion which is in keeping with the surrounding area of two storey dwellings with gardens at the rear."
