On Saturday, November 12 hundreds of protestors from across the city took to the streets to take part in the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice which sees similar events across the UK.
The event began from St Andrew Square at 12.00pm and saw passionate locals march down to the Scottish Parliament with signs demanding that the climate crisis demands action. Police Scotland were also in attendance to manage the crowds.
Organizations such as the Edinburgh Climate Coalition, Global Justice Now, and Friends of the Earth Scotland planned the event to amplify their concerns for the environment and climate change.
Images show hundreds of people marching down Market Street with signs reading "We have a choice" and "Parents for the future" as well as "Give the climate back."
Many spoke out about the UK Government considering approving plans to develop Rosebank, an oil and gas field 130 kilometers off the coast of the Shetland Islands.
It has been predicted that Rosebank could produce 69,000 barrels of oil a day at its peak, and about 44 million cubic feet of gas per day in its first 10 years.
It has also been predicted that the project could create more than 1,600 jobs at the height of construction, and could generate £24.1bn of gross value add (GVA) over its lifetime.

"Join us In Edinburgh, St Andrew Square at 12:00 for a family friendly march that brings to life the multiple crises we are facing. At each location along the route, groups will engage the march in key issues and resistance: expect music, art and excitement!"
