A warning has been fired to traders at a Greater Manchester car boot sale after police raided the scene for dodgy goods. Hundreds of counterfeit and unsafe items were collected from Bowlee Car Boot Sale, in Middleton, yesterday (May 8).
Police descended on the car boot sale alongside trading standards officers from Rochdale Council, where they discovered several items which were not fit for purpose. Officers seized a huge haul from Bowlee, filling up bags with fake or unsafe items.
The car boot sale, which is run by Rochdale Council and takes place weekly from April to August, is now warning sellers against bringing such items to the event. It says counterfeit and unsafe goods 'will not be tolerated' - while shoppers are being warned they will leave the car boot sale 'disappointed' if they arrive hoping to find fake goods.

In a post on Facebook shared this afternoon (Monday), a spokesperson for Bowlee Car Boot Sale said: "Trading standards officers from Rochdale Borough Council were on site yesterday with GMP Middleton. Hundreds of counterfeit and potentially unsafe items were seized.
"Sellers - please be aware that we will not tolerate the sale of such items. You risk losing your stock and enforcement action being taken against you. Buyers - please don't come looking for such items as you'll be disappointed."
