Hundreds of balloons were released in memory of a woman who was stabbed to death in the street.

Heartbroken family and friends came together in Webster Park, Kirkby, on Monday evening, August 29, to remember Karen Dempsey. The nan was found with a stab wound to the chest following an incident outside the Brambles pub on Cherryfield Drive on Monday, August 22.

Merseyside Police have charged Karen's son Jamie Dempsey, 32, of Brechin Road, Kirkby with her murder. He was remanded into custody and appeared at Merseyside Domestic Violence remand court on Thursday (August 25).
