Hundreds of people in Taylor County, Florida, have chosen not to evacuate as Hurricane Helene approaches the region. According to Emergency Management Director John Louk, more than 400 residents have not heeded the evacuation warnings.
Louk stated that the county officials have requested those who have not evacuated to send an email informing them of their whereabouts. Despite the imminent landfall of the hurricane, residents are still reaching out to officials via email, expressing their decision to stay in the area.
Taylor County, situated in Florida's Big Bend region, is located southeast of Tallahassee. The county is bracing for the impact of Hurricane Helene as it moves closer to the coast.
