Hundreds of people are reporting issues with their Virgin Media accounts for the second time in less than 24 hours. According to Downdetector, a service which gives a realtime overview of issues and outages across a range of services, hundreds of people are currently facing problems with the provider.
The spike in reports began to increase between 5am and 6am on Monday and by 8.22am 896 people had said they were affected. This comes just hours after a similar spike on Sunday when there were almost 700 complaints about problems between 6pm and 8pm.
One in four of the reports came from customers who could not access their internet. More than half had issues with their emails and 17% had TV problems.
Many took to Twitter to comment on the issue with some saying it believed those who had the older email accounts of ntl/blueyonder. Coluche59 asked: "Anyone else having problems with Virgin Media email in the UK? It's been down since just after 23:00 Sunday 18 June, UK time (just over 9 hours) with login failures and failures to find the servers."
The post received numerous replies from people saying they had the old accounts. Dave Graham told fellow posters: "Yep, just been on to them. Estimated fix time by 10.05am this morning...I had thought it was just us. We are on blueyonder"
The issues also appeared to be affecting people across different parts of the country with comments on Twitter or Downdetector from areas including Bristol, Hereford, Birmingham, Essex, Stafford and Northampton. It was also not just the emails.
Simon Hunt told the firm: "There seems to be some national issues with your TV service on V6 and 360 boxes regarding severe pixelation and sound issues, yet your status checker is not picking any of these issues up. Can you confirm what is happening please and when we can expect a fix?"
Phil demanded: "What the hell is going on with Virgin Media?? Massive pixelating on most channels. How many more problems are we going to get with this expensive antiquated system before we switch to another provider??"
And Rob asked: "Is Virgin media playing up for anyone else? my internet is super slow... or is it just the stormy weather?"
A Virgin Media spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an issue that is affecting our Virgin Media email service for customers. Our teams are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
