A WORLD Cup version of a hit Scottish song has been unveiled, with hundreds attending the live performance launch.

Nathan Evans and the Saint PHNX Band performed at Princes Square in Glasgow today at a free pop-up show to mark the release.

Hundreds can be seen in the square, with more leaning over the barriers on each floor of the shopping centre.

The group have released the fresh version of their hit song "Home" in celebration of the Scotland Men’s Football Team’s imminent World Cup finals adventure.

The World Cup version "pays homage", the band said, to those who played in the 4-2 victory against Denmark at Glasgow’s Hampden Park in November.

Verse one reads:

Under The Hampden lights We were all dreamers There was a wonder strike that gave us that feeling it’s a bird it’s a plane, No, it’s Scott McTominay With Shanklands desire and Tierney on fire McLean from the halfway line cemented in history rising from misery Scotland, it’s now our time so don’t forget where we’re coming from my friend

Verse two states:

Our flag is blue and white We’re Clarke’s tartan army Singing all through the night No Scotland no party From the Boston streets to the beach of Miami With Robertson leading the crowd will be cheering We’re coming on down the road The pipes will be calling The Flower Of Scotland when John McGinn scores the goals So don’t forget where we’re coming from my friend

The boys will now headline Northern Meeting Park in Inverness on Friday, May 29 and will be in Boston for events in the run-up to the finals themselves and to support the team at the first group match against Haiti on June 14.

The new single follows the success of Nathan and Saint PHNX’s collaborative album Angels’ Share, which topped the charts in Scotland and hit the UK Top 5 on its release in January.

Sold out UK, US and European tours followed and the trio will perform at Isle of Wight and Latitude festivals as well as headlining the Heather On The Hill Festival at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre on August 22.

Evans, a singer-songwriter from Airdrie, rose to fame in 2020 for his online sea shanty performances – including the viral Wellerman hit, which topped the charts in the UK.
