First Minister Humza Yousaf said he has not spoken to his predecessor Nicola Sturgeon “in the last couple of weeks”, as he rejected calls to suspend both her and her husband from the SNP amid the ongoing police probe into the party’s finances.

Mr Yousaf’s comments came as the police investigation saw SNP treasurer Colin Beattie arrested and questioned by detectives.
