The Odisha Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a case where an Odisha journalist was chained in handcuffs to a bed in a hospital in Balasore, after allegedly being assaulted by the police, the Indian Express reported.
On Friday, the commission also directed the inspector general of Balasore to submit a report on the matter “justifying the reason for putting the victim under fetters in the hospital bed”. The commission has asked for the report within 15 days.
