Paris Saint-Germain are interested in bringing Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris back to French football.
A World Cup winner with a record 145 appearances for France, Lloris would be deployed by PSG as an elite back-up to Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 36-year-old has been offered to a number of Champions League clubs, including Internazionale, who are concluding negotiations on the sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United.
With a single season remaining on his contract and Tottenham signing Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli last month as his replacement, Lloris' representatives hope to be granted a free transfer following 11 seasons at the the London club. Record Sport, however, understands that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will seek a transfer fee from PSG at what Lloris recently described as “the end of an era”.
Tottenham recruited Vicario, “a commanding goalkeeper with the ability to play out from the back”, after incoming coach Ange Postecoglou prioritised the position in his first Premier League window. An earlier attempt to sign David Raya fell through after Tottenham failed to put an economic structure in place which met Brentford's valuation of the Spain international.
PSG's move for Lloris is dependent on Keylor Navas leaving Paris this summer. The Costa Rica international started 17 Premier League games on loan to Nottingham Forest in the second half of last season as he helped keep the club in the division, and is in the final year of a contract worth €7m (£6m) net.
The French champions have deployed the substantial financial resource freed up by releasing Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos this summer to recruit younger players on performance-related contracts. Marco Asensio, Lee Kang-in, Milan Skriniar and Manuel Ugarte joined from Real Madrid, Mallorca, Inter and Sporting, while a deal is in place for Bayern Munich's Lucas Hernandez.
Harry Kane and Bernardo Silva are long standing targets to reinforce at centre forward and in midfield with the two players open to leaving Tottenham and Manchester City if fees can be agreed with their current employers. It is understood that PSG intend to hold off on making an offer for Kane until Kylian Mbappe's dispute with the club is resolved.
Manchester United and Inter expect to reach agreement on Cameroon goalkeeper Onana's transfer fee this week. The recent Champions League finalists are asking €60m (£51.2m) for the 27-year-old, who established himself at the elite level under Erik ten Hag's guidance at Ajax.
Onana has agreed personal terms with United, while Inter are working on deals to recruit Shakhtar Donetsk's Anatoliy Trubin and Bayern's Yann Sommer's as replacements. The Italian club hope to negotiate a higher fee for Onana after David de Gea stated that he is leaving Old Trafford, following failed negotiations on a salary cut.
De Gea, who won one Premier League title, one FA Cup, the Europa League, two League Cups and two Premier League Golden Gloves across 12 seasons at Old Trafford, used social media to announce his exit.
