Hughie Maughan has said he was accused of “blackface” by social media trolls.
The Big Brother contestant became went viral back in 2017 after he wore too much fake tan on Dancing With The Stars.
But the 28-year-old Dubliner said that trolls resurrected the video of his tan and accused him of doing “blackface”, saying he got a “tirade of online abuse” last year.
He added: “The amount of abuse I get all the time over that.
“All the TV shows I do, all I get online is the tan s***e. I had horrific abuse from this American show called the challenge. It was really bad because you know how they are having more conversations in America about race.”
Hughie is set to appear on Thursday night’s First Dates on RTE Two for a second shot at finding love.
He was paired with Scottish hairdresser Paul Smith on the TV show last year and it led to a war of words between the couple.
First Dates Ireland airs tomorrow night on RTE Two at 9.30pm.
