Huge waterfront food and drink village to open at Salford Quays

A huge new waterfront food and drink destination, with a sun terrace and a host of food traders and restaurants, is to open at Salford Quays this summer. Called Central Bay, it will be spread over 25,000 sq ft, with space for 600 people.

The teams behind the award-winning food halls Cutlery Works in Sheffield and the GPO in Liverpool are behind the food hall area, which will be called Kargo and will feature 13 kitchens and four independent restaurants. Plans are to launch the £3.5 million project this summer.

As well as kitchens and bars, the development will also boast ‘indie markets’, pop-up events, live music performances and recreation space for kids. Meanwhile, the terrace will offer views of the city and Old Trafford football ground.
