Huge spring market with local vendors, food, cocktails and more coming to Sefton Park Palm House

A spring market with local creatives, food, cocktails and more is coming to Sefton Park's iconic Palm House next month.

The famed dome-shaped glass Victorian building is packed with lush flora and fauna and now operates as a charity, well known for staging a range of events including gigs, film screenings, music shows, dance nights and even weddings. Now, it's hosting its Pop-Up in the Palm House Spring Market event from Friday, May 20 until Sunday, May 22.

The event is part of the 150th anniversary of Sefton Park, which falls on May 20. The venue will be opening its doors at 2pm for an evening of food, shopping, music and cocktails, which will then continue over the whole weekend.

The much-loved Sefton Park was opened on May 20, 1872 by Prince Arthur who dedicated it "for the health and enjoyment of the townspeople". Hosting some of the celebrations, the Palm House will welcome local makers, bakers, ceramicists, artists and more.

Open from Friday to Sunday, expect high quality, handpicked stalls with an array of unique products on offer. For those who fancy a quieter shopping experience, tickets are available from Ticket Quarter for a VIP relaxed hour from 10am-11am on both Saturday and Sunday.

Robyn Edwards, owner of Pop-Up in the Palm House, said: "We love giving new and returning creatives the platform to showcase and sell their work and for the buyers to meet the maker of their new purchase, alongside we have our food market selling artisan pies, preserves, cakes and gin as well as hot food such as sourdough pizza from Little Bear Pizza and local dessert bar Spoon.

"Or you could just come for a relax in the Sefton Park Palm House grounds, soak up the atmosphere with a glass of Pimms and listen to the live music from Lucy Sings and Mike Blue. We can’t wait to see you there!"

Pop-Up in the Palm House Spring Market event will kick off on Friday, May from 2pm until 8pm; then will open on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 from 11am until 6pm. It'll open at 10am these days for ticket holders only.

Sefton Park Palm House Preservation Trust is a registered charity set up in 1996 to manage Sefton Park Palm House. You can book tickets for the VIP relaxed shopping hour by clicking here.
