'Huge news' - Manchester United fans react to Raphael Varane injury return report

Manchester United fans have been reacting to reports that defender Rafael Varane is set to be sidelined for three weeks after going off injured against Chelsea on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag's side came from behind to salvage a draw against the London outfit at Stamford Bridge, despite falling behind in the 87th minute through Jorginho's penalty. The Reds grabbed an equaliser courtesy of a fantastic header from Casemiro deep into injury time.

Despite the result, United were impressive against Graham Potter's men and delivered another good performance to continue their run of good form in recent weeks.

One negative from the match was the injury to centre-back Varane, with the Frenchman limping off the pitch with an injury in the 60th minute. The 29-year-old, who has formed a strong partnership with Lisandro Martinez this term, was also taken off in the derby defeat by Manchester City earlier this month.

Though it's yet to be confirmed how serious Varane's injury is, the defender was visibly emotional as he left the pitch on Saturday and struggled to hold back the tears.

However, according to L’Equipe journalist Loïc Tanzi, the former Real Madrid star is set to miss just three weeks of action. The report adds that there is still hope that he will be named in France's World Cup squad.

United fans have expressed their relief at the reports coming out of France, especially given Varane's reaction as he left the pitch.
