'Huge' - Newcastle United supporters react as Callum Wilson returns for crucial Arsenal clash

Callum Wilson returns to Newcastle United's starting line-up to face league leaders Arsenal, as Chris Wood drops to the bench in Eddie Howe's only change.

Martin Dubravka is also named among the substitutes following his recall from Manchester United, and replaces Karl Darlow on the bench.

Newcastle failed to register a seventh league win on the spin against Leeds United on New Year's Eve, as they were held to a goalless draw at St James' Park. However, the Magpies extended their unbeaten run to 12 games in the Premier League, and finished 2022 in third place.

The Magpies can move to within six points of the Premier League summit with a victory, although they face arguably their toughest test yet against league leaders Arsenal.

Newcastle XI (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Botman, Schar, Burn; S Longstaff, B Guimaraes, J Willock; M Almiron, C Wilson, Joelinton.

Subs: K Darlow, J Lascelles, J Manquillo, J Lewis, M Ritchie, J Murphy, E Anderson, A Saint-Maximin, C Wood.

Here is how Newcastle supporters have reacted on social media to their latest line-up to face Arsenal...

@NUFCAI_ WILSON!

@Jbaber9 Wilson back.

@LRFNUFC Thank the lord, no Chris Wood.

@TobyCoxonSports Wilson being back is huge!

@Matty01207 Glad Wilson's in, shame Maxi mustn't be fully fit. I'd have preferred Joelinton back in the centre of midfield where he dominates.

@nufc_seb I thought Howe might leave Maxi out again just for Joelinton's physicality and better tracking back.

@greggas90 Let's hope Longstaff has a better game than against Leeds! Press from the front, let's hope for a big performance.

@vinnyrowbo Biggest game of the season so far. Show them what we are made of.

@MichaelSchettig When will Saint-Maximin be back in the starting eleven?

@S_Davisonn Maxi on the bench for this game is criminal. Joelinton is so much more effective in midfield. This means we're way too heavily reliant on Miggy on the right. Fear this might cost us.
