China's plans to build a huge embassy in Tower Hamlets have sparked a new row after the Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary intervened in the deeply controversial proposal.

Yvette Cooper and David Lammy both signalled their support for the scheme, despite the security concerns raised by the Metropolitan Police and protests from residents.
