A huge new neighbourhood could be built in Midlothian with plans proposed for nearly 400 homes and a primary school.
The suggested site at Auchendinny, Penicuik, could also see a function hall and meeting space north of the village.
A planning application has been proposed to Midlothian Council on behalf of Bellway Homes for The Brae which will include 395 homes, 98 of which will be affordable, as well as a possible primary school.

Urban Realm reports that in a statement, Bellway said: "Our design response will be the creation of a series of open spaces that will link the site with the wider green network. Retention of a large area of open space within the southern half of the site will help maintain the landscape setting closest to the nearby Old Woodhouselee Castle and the valley of the North Esk River.
"The proposal will establish a positive frontage to The Brae and Oatslie Road while retaining a buffer of space between existing buildings and the remainder of the proposed housing."
The proposed primary school will be the centrepiece of the development, with plans to build it on top of existing woodland area that hundreds of homes would surround.
Existing power lines will be rerouted to accommodate the work, with a new loop road offering direct access to The Brae.
Last month, another application was submitted that would provide over 200 homes in the Penicuik area by Taylor Wimpey. Recently opening their Greenlaw Mill housing, the developer said their new project will include 221 new homes for locals, with a mixture of designs from two-bedroom homes to four-bedroom townhouses.
Located off Belwood Road, and to be delivered over two phases, the Greenlaw Mains site will also offer buyers three bedroom terraced and semi-detached homes as well as three, four and five-bedroom detached homes and pocket play spaces for children to play.
