A huge new neighbourhood featuring over 1,000 homes, a primary school and a community centre could be set for the outskirts of Edinburgh.
A proposal of application notice has been filed for the new settlement at Hatton Mains, Dalmahoy, and could be built around an active travel hub connecting to a public park.
As Urban Realm reports, Pegasus consultancy have launched plans for the new village as an online exhibition sets out the plans in detail, including provision for a huge 1,200 homes and supporting facilities and infrastructure to establish a self-sustaining community.

The area in question is located at the junction of Dalmahoy Road and the A71, with connecting links to Ratho, Ratho Station and Newbridge. It is understood that the settlement would consist of apartments and terraces clustered around the village centre.
In a consultation statement, Inverdunning wrote: "Edinburgh’s success has resulted in conflict between growth and conservation, the future and the past. There is significant forecast population growth over the next twenty years and current housing expansion involving the extension of existing suburbs is creating conflict with existing communities.
"Hatton Village offers the potential for a new community to make a significant contribution towards Edinburgh's housing growth requirements."
A mix of housing types and tenures will be offered including an aspiration for 35% affordable housing, delivered via Dunedin Canmore Housing Association.
CGI images produced on behalf of Pegasus show dedicates transport links and new bus routes within the village, as well as shops and large open communal areas and bike storage facilities.
