Drivers faced huge delays and miles of congestion on the M56 this afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash.
Lanes were closed on the eastbound carriageway between junction 15 for Stoak and junction 14 for Helsby after a number of vehicles were involved in a collision.
National Highways and Cheshire Police were at the scene, as drivers experienced delays of up to 30 minutes and around 2.5 miles of congestion. Pictures from motorway cameras show huge stretches of cars queuing on the carriageway.

A tweet from National Highways said: "Two (of three) lanes closed on the M56 eastbound between J15 (Stoak) and J14 (Helsby) due to a collision involving multiple vehicles.
"Cheshire Police and National Highways North West traffic officers on scene. Delays up to 30 minutes, approx. 2.5 miles of congestion."
At just after 6pm National Highways said all lanes had reopened. By 7pm delays had eased.
