Gambling is usually the first thing that comes to mind when people think of the Las Vegas Strip. Visits to any number of casinos operated by MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment or Wynn Resorts (WYNN) are at the top of many Las Vegas visitors' lists.
But there's so much more to do in Las Vegas than just sitting at card tables and slot machines. Vegas has become a major destination for major sports events after the arrival of the National Hockey League's Vegas Golden Knights in 2017 and the National Football League's Raiders in 2020. And thanks to the Raiders' arrival from Oakland, Super Bowl LVIII is scheduled to be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Feb. 11, 2024.
The NCAA's Men's Basketball West Regional just wrapped up on March 25 at T-Mobile Arena, but the NCAA's Men's Basketball Final Four will arrive in 2028 at Allegiant Stadium. And for auto racing fans, the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix rolls into Sin City Nov. 16-18 racing through the city's streets.
A seemingly endless list of restaurants can be found on the Strip and throughout Las Vegas as well, and visitors also can explore interesting museums, such as the Neon Museum on Las Vegas Boulevard North or the Mob Museum in Downtown Las Vegas.
Popular Music Performers Coming to The Strip
Some of the most enjoyable and exciting entertainment might be the variety of music residencies that make their home on the Strip. Visitors and locals have plenty of superstar performers to choose from in the lineup of musical acts.
James Taylor and His All-Star Band brings his classic hits to Strip this year as he takes the stage at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for five shows June 3, 4, 7, 9 and 10. The 1970s pop crooner Barry Manilow is continuing his residency at the Westgate Las Vegas in 2023, which will run into December.
"Uptown Funk" singer Bruno Mars, who began performing his occasional residency at MGM Resorts International's (MGM) Dolby Live at Park MGM in 2016, in February added six more shows to his residency at the theater on May 24, 27, 28, 31, June 2 and 3.
Maroon 5 has taken residency at the Park MGM for 10 shows spread out over March, April, July and August. Usher continues his residency also at the Park MGM with 32 shows scheduled in April, June, July and October.
"Juke Box Hero" performers Foreigner continue their residency at the Venetian Theatre at The Venetian Resort through April 8 on its Best of Foreigner 4 & More Live residency.
For those seeking country music entertainment, Miranda Lambert resumes her long-running residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino that continues March 30 with more shows in April, July, November and December. And country star Keith Urban has 16 shows scheduled in June, July and November at Planet Hollywood.
But even bigger shows are planned on the strip from a huge superstar performer.
Adele Schedules More Shows at The Colosseum
Superstar singer Adele originally planned her 24-show “Weekends With Adele” residency at the Caesars Entertainment's (CZR) Colosseum at Caesars Palace every Friday and Saturday from Jan. 21 until April 16, 2022. She had to cancel those shows, however, as members of her crew contracted covid and some of the set pieces designed for the performance were not ready.
Adele postponed the residency to Nov. 18, 2022, with a break from Christmas through Jan. 20, and concluded her shows March 25. In her final show of the residency, Adele wowed the crowd when she announced she would be returning to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace "for a few weeks in June" and would release a live video recording of her Las Vegas performances "to make sure anyone who wants to see this show can see it," the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.
The live concert video will be recorded during Adele's June concerts at the Colosseum.
Adele on March 26 extended her Weekends With Adele residency at the Colosseum for 34 more dates, running from June 16, 2023, to Nov. 4, 2023, according to the singer's website. Presale registration for ticket sales is open now on Ticketmaster Verified Fan until April 2, 11:59 p.m., Pacific time. Verified Fan requires registration to help filter out buyers looking to resell tickets, and instead get them into the hands of fans who want to attend the show, the Ticketmaster website says.
