A cottage in the west of Edinburgh is set to be demolished and replaced by a futuristic family home with a glass-panelled walkway between rooms.
The home, at 16 Ravelston Dykes Road, is located near Ravelston Golf Course and requires 'extensive modernisation'. The new building will benefit from a north-facing sloped roof with multiple modern features such as an underground courtyard and multiple wall-integrated fireplaces.
Visuals of the home have been drawn up which show it in all its glory, with most of the property's exterior being glass as well as the addition of a huge outdoor terrace with integrated LED lights.

According to Urban Realm, the home will consist of five-bedrooms with planning permission already being granted by Edinburgh Council. The bisected glass-panelled 'bridge' deck spans the split-level accommodation.
The home also benefits from views of Corstorphine Hill as the building makes use of natural light being established between silver birch trees. In a statement, the architects said: "Conceived from the outset as the antithesis to the showy, rectilinear status symbols of the adjacent Ravelston III development, the consented design aims to place subtlety and context at the forefront of its design principles."
A large gym area has been designed to sit within the lower ground floor courtyard looking onto the central space. The gym is also surrounded with glass. The family bathroom also benefits from a huge walk-in shower with integrated storage compartments.
A terrace is also accessible via the principal bedroom as the design statement added: "The bedrooms have been designed to connect with the garden and feel like you’re sitting amongst the trees."
It goes without saying that the principal bedroom also benefits from an en-suite with a similar walk-in shower and bathtub situated next to a window with views to the rear of the property.
Permission was granted for the ambitious and contemporary project in May despite 16 material representations of objection.
