Huge Cardiff nightclub to close for good

Cardiff is known for being a great night out from classic haunts like Clwb Ifor Bach and Live Lounge to newer additions such as Heidi's and Proud Mary's. But one Cardiff nightclub is closing its doors in July.

Pryzm, which was popular with students in Cardiff, will be closing down for good. The club, located on Greyfriars Road, is known for its cheesy disco floor, R 'n' B floor and student nights. Go here to remember 22 legendary Cardiff nightclubs you loved in the 1990s that aren't there now.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Pryzm Cardiff announced its closure to its followers, saying its last night will be on July 1. The club also sent a email to those signed up to its mailing list, which reads: "It’s hard to believe, but the time has come. Pryzm Cardiff is gearing up for its final dance. But before we switch off the lights in disco for the last time, we've got a goodbye party planned that you won't want to miss!"

It went on: "Clear your schedule for next week, because on June 30 and July 1, we're celebrating in true Pryzm style. Expect a party atmosphere like no other, with all your favourite Pryzm anthems setting the dance floor on fire. So round up your crew, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready for an unforgettable night as we bid farewell to Pryzm Cardiff. Let's make Pryzm Cardiff's final nights truly legendary. We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor! The Pryzm Team."

Many commented on the former Facebook post saying how gutted they were to see it go. Another former stalwart of Cardiff nightlife, Tiger Tiger, has also recently largely closed and you can read more about that here. It's on the same street as Pryzm.
