Huge brawl breaks out near bar soon after England's first World Cup match

A massive bar brawl broke out moments after England's opening World Cup victory over Iran as a local feud spilled over into the streets.

Footage shows punches being thrown and objects launched as things got out of hands outside French Martini in Billericay, Essex.

A large group came to blows on the street as police were called during the post match fight, which saw more than a dozen men involved in the fracas.

The clips shows a number of people being restrained and forced to the floor during the trouble.

The bar's owners have apologised to their customers and said the fight was not related to the World Cup game being shown.

England got off to a flying start in the tournament with a 6-2 on Monday afternoon.

But the victory didn't little to simmer the situation as the battle raged down the street at full-time, EssexLive report.

Essex Police confirmed officers were called to the venue following reports of a disturbance at 3.15pm but by the time officers arrived the crowd had dispersed.

No injuries have been reported to the force.

French Martini's owners have shared their disappointment at the brawl breaking out but stressed that the incident began between two punters who had an "ongoing feud" with tensions reaching boiling point around the same time as England's match.

A spokesman for the venue said: "It was quickly stopped, we had security in place and we couldn't have done anything further to stop the situation.

"It was nothing to do with the football. We want to apologise to customers.

"If we knew there was that friction in the building we would have asked them to leave, but we didn't."

The spokesman added that police did come to the scene but officers "didn't need to get out of the car", and that the venue looked forward to welcoming customers again to watch England play their next World Cup match on Friday against the USA.
