There is hope that Ireland's upcoming Six Nations games will be played in front of a full capacity Aviva Stadium.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has advised the Government that they can begin lifting most remaining Covid restrictions.
And the news comes just in time as Ireland's Six Nations campaign gets underway in the first weekend of February against Wales.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin is set to make a significant State of the Nation address on Friday and will lift the 8pm curfew on pubs.
Dr Holohan has given the green light to the Government to lift all Covid rules on the hospitality sector, including nightclubs.
And NPHET has left it up to the Government to decide when all remaining rules like household visit restrictions, social distancing, and the use of Covid passes can end.
All restrictions including caps on how many people can attend indoor and outdoor events can be stood down too.
There is currently a 50 percent cap on indoor and outdoor events and the news could come as an added boost to the GAA with National Leagues returning next weekend.
