Two large areas of central London were shut down this morning following a suspected suspicious package and a reported security threat.
The City of London Police said they received reports of a suspicious package at about 10.06am near Mansion House in central London.
Just two miles away, St Thomas' Hospital went into lockdown over a security threat. It is unclear if these incidents were related.
A hospital worker told MyLondon a threat was made, sparking an urgent investigation where people were not allowed in or out. The 'all clear' has since been given.
Earlier, a woman tweeted that she heard helicopters flying over the hospital. She wrote: " we have been told hospital is in lockdown due to a security threat. They said to stay calm, nothing to worry about. Police then came and started looking inside bins and plant pots."
At Bank, people working in offices around the Tube station said that the buildings were not evacuated, but they couldn't enter due to the police cordon.
Bank station was shut due to a "security alert" for more than an hour before it was able to reopen.
They previously tweeted: "Bank station - closed due to a security alert at street level. Monument station is not affected and is operating normally."
David, 57, told MyLondon as he waited to get back into the office: "I don’t have a clue what’s going on, neither does the office.
"Took a client for coffee and came back to the street being closed off - police have given me barely any info, only found out it was a suspicious package because people in the office asked around."
The Waterloo and City Line was also suspended this morning, but has since reopened.
After nearly two hours, City of London Police confirmed the issue had been resolved and they were lifting the cordon.
Chief Inspector Nikki Gander, from the City of London Police, said earlier: “Officers were called to a report of a suspicious package near Mansion House at 10.06am this morning.
"This is currently being investigated and precautionary cordons and road closures have been put in place.”
The City of London Police tweeted: "We are currently dealing with a report of a suspicious package at #MansionHouse.
"There are significant road closures affecting: Queen Victoria St Queen St Princes St Lothbury Threadneedle St We will provide further updates here."
Yesterday, City of London Police were forced to close roads surrounding Cannon Street Station after a man climbed onto a building on Wallbrook and began throwing objects.
The Mirror contacted the City of London Police, Metropolitan Police and the Hospital Trust for a statement.
