A man who failed to clear rubbish from his home has been fined more than £100.
James Williams, who had been warned on several occasions by Ashfield District Council, was issued with a community protection notice.
The notice required him to remove rubbish from outside his home in Broomhill Road, in Hucknall.
The local authority said they'd received complaints from neighbours about the waste and over vermin in the area.
But despite the warnings, 26-year-old Williams did not remove and dispose of the waste in his garden and continued to breach the community protection notice.
He was served with a fixed penalty notice and fine of £100.
However, Williams failed to pay the money.
So the district council’s community safety team took action to prosecute him.
On November 15 last year, Williams was summoned to Nottingham Magistrates' Court where he failed to attend.
In his absence, Williams was convicted under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 where he was fined £120 for failing to comply with the notice, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and pay legal costs of £663.42, with a total amount of £817.42 to be paid within 28 days.
The council also applied for a remedial order, which was granted by the court, requiring Williams to remove the waste by the December 13.
Cllr Helen-Ann Smith, portfolio holder for community safety and crime reduction on the district council, said: “James Williams had no regard for his neighbours and continued to dump rubbish in his garden despite warnings being issued by the Council.
"His failure to pay the fixed penalty notice meant we had no choice but to take the case to court.
"We will not tolerate anti-social behaviour of any kind, and this should act as a warning to those that think that they will get away with dumping waste like this.”
