The HSE have launched a brand new app for people with ADHD in Ireland.
The app will help provides accurate information in real time to support adults with ADHD as well as their family and friends. The app serves to provide information to its users about ADHD, as well as useful tips and resources, such as meditations and a "mindful breaks" features.
The app has varying mediations which vary in length from 30 seconds to 3 minutes and deal with different topics such as focus, difficult thoughts and self-compassion. Speaking at the launch of the app yesterday, HSE National Clinical Lead Dr Margo Wrigley explains that the app was developed "following extensive research and consultation with the ADHD community in Ireland."

With ADHD impacting approximately 2.5% of the adult population in Ireland, she said this app was a direct response to their needs. "It can be overwhelming and stressful for people with ADHD to find accurate support information and resources online," Dr Wrigley said.
"We aim to bridge this information gap in a way that is accessible to all those who need it through their smartphones." Dr Wrigley added that it is important to note that "it is not a treatment programme or a replacement for medical advice and care."
As well as self help techniques, there is also information about seeking help, either as someone with ADHD or as someone who has a loved one or family member with ADHD whom they wish to support. Minister for Older People and Mental Health Mary Butler added: "Today marks an important milestone in bridging the information gap in a way that is accessible to the ADHD community through their smartphones."
The ADHD in Adults App can be downloaded from the Apple or Google app stores.
