Euro 2022 may be over, but the Barclay's Women's Super League is quickly approaching with pre-season well underway for Merseyside clubs Liverpool and Everton.
The Lionesses made history on Sunday by beating Germany 2-1 to clinch the trophy and England's first major tournament win since 1966. Celebrations continued well into the night and the legacy left by victory this summer could transform the women's game in years to come.
It is hoped the success of the national side will transpire into the domestic women's game both in the top tiers and at grassroots level. Both Liverpool and Everton will be competing in the top flight next term after the Reds earned promotion from the Championship last season.
