- UK drivers will be able to view near-real-time fuel prices on Google Maps and Waze following a new government partnership with Google.
- The initiative uses data from the government's Fuel Finder scheme, which the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero estimates will save households an average of £40 a year.
- Energy consumers minister Polly Billington stated the move will help families and businesses easily locate cheaper petrol and diesel during the cost-of-living crisis.
- The feature arrives as fuel costs reach record highs, with diesel hitting 200.11p per litre following international supply disruptions in the Middle East and Russia.
- Around 99 per cent of UK petrol stations now participate in reporting price changes within 30 minutes to avoid fines from the Competition and Markets Authority.
