How World Cup will affect the 2022/23 Premier League season for Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham

Qatar 2022 is just around the corner and with that comes complications with the usual fixture calendar.

Normally, all World Cups are to be played out during the summertime, meaning that the usual club European competitions can run their usual course by being able to kick off in mid-late August.

However, with temperatures in the Middle Eastern nation reaching an unpalatable 40 degrees Celsius plus around this time of year, it is simply not an option for players and supporters alike, even with the air-conditioned stadiums that have been built.

Therefore, the winter period, which is usually the busiest time in the English footballing calendar alongside other integral parts such as the transfer windows and international break schedule, are all altered slightly in comparison to previous seasons. football.london brings you all you need to know about the upcoming World Cup and how it will affect Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea fans this season.

The period of this World Cup will run from November 12, 2022 to December, 18, 2022. Thus, the Premier League will start earlier than usual — on the weekend of August 6 — and pause from November 12 until December 26, 2022. The 2022-23 Premier League season will end on May 28, 2023.

Similarly, the Championship will take a break during this time period alongside the Premier League, with many players from the second tier representing their respective nations at the tournament. But League One, Two and those further down the footballing pyramid aren't set to be disrupted by the change in plans for Qatar 2022.
