How to watch The Open Championship 2022 - start times and TV schedule

Golfing fans have The Open Championship 2022 to look forward to this week as it tees of at St. Andrews. Taking place at the Old Course, the Open Championship will begin on Thursday.

The 150th Open Championship will welcome the best golfers from across the world including World Number two Rory McIlroy who recently told the Telegraph that winning an Open Championship at St. Andrews is golf's 'Holy Grail'. A total of 156 players will battle it out to win the title.

Starting on July 14, The Open will be broadcast live on Sky Sports and will be spread out throughout Thursday and into Friday. Early starters will tee off around 6am (BST) for the first round.

Coverage starts on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Golf from 6.30am BST on Thursday and Friday, you can also stream online via the Sky Go app. Those who want to watch but don't have a Sky Sports package can scroll down for deals below. There will also be highlights on BBC Two from 9Pm BST on Thursday and Friday.

Last time the Open took place at St. Andrews in 2015, Zach Johnson clinched the title when he beat Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Leishman in a four-hole play-off.

Rory McIlroy is a 10/1 favourite to win while Jon Rahm is a second strong content after having broken through in the majors in last years US Open. Justin Thomas is also a two-time major champion and will also be one to watch, as well as Scottie Scheffler who is a Masters champion and four-time winner in 2022.

If you want to watch The Open you can do so on Sky. Sky currently has a golf package from £14 a month, although you have to have this on top of an existing Sky TV package.

Their cheapest package is £26 a month for 18 months which includes Sky Q, Sky TV and Netflix, and with the sports package on top (£14 a month) this will total £40 a month, although the Sports package can be cancelled at anytime so you could just get it for The Open. Sky also do a Sky Q, Sky TV, Netfllix and Sky Sports package all in one for £46 a month.
