Andy Murray is looking to win an ATP Tour title for the first time in more than three years as he faces Daniil Medvedev in the Qatar Open final.
Following a bruising run to the Australian Open third round last month, Murray has provided further evidence of his form this week in Doha, though as ever it has been far from easy.
The 35-year-old saved three match points in his opening win over Lorenzo Sonego, and then five in the remarkable semi-final win over Jiri Lehecka. He has now won all six of the deciding sets he has played in 2023.
This though is by far his biggest test, even if he has won the Qatar Open on two previous occasions. Medvedev lifted the trophy in Rotterdam last week and his world ranking of eight certainly does not tell the full story.
Medvedev was ranked the best player in the world as recently as August, has never dropped a set against Murray and goes into the final as the strong favourite.
